Helgen den 28-29 juli är det dags att hoppa i land på någon ö för att köra IOTA Contest. Är man kvar hemma på fastlandet, kan man ändå delta i denna världsomspännande test, som s.k fixed station. I år har man förändrat reglerna något.
De huvudsakliga förändringarna är:
- The World Multi-Operator category has been discontinued.
- Island Multi-Operator stations must observe a “6 band/mode changes per hour” rule.
- Island Multi-Operator stations must identify Run and Multiplier stations in their log.
- The score for World to World QSOs is reduced from 3 points to 2 points.
- Island Stations now receive more points for World Station QSOs.
- Score for Island Stations contacting their own Island is changed.
- Low Power Island expedition stations can now choose any antenna that they want.
Ett av skälen till förändringarna är att man återigen vill öka fokus på de stationer som gör sig besväret och aktiverar någon rar IOTA-ö.
En sådan expedition är CY9M (NA-094) som aktiverar St. Paul Island i Kanada.
Bland operatörerna har vi dessutom en svensk, Björn SM0MDG (SE0X). Så här skriver man i sitt pressmeddelande:
The CY9M team will participate in the IOTA contest next weekend, giving both DXCC and IOTA hunters the chance to confirm NA-094. Our contest operation will be limited to 20 meters only – please do not ask for a contest exchange on other bands. We will operate both SSB and CW modes throughout the contest. The contest log will be merged with the regular DX operation, so there is no need to work us twice. Your contest contact will be valid for DXCC. The CY9M QSL card will be used for confirmation and the log will be uploaded to LoTW. Contest log will be submitted to the RSGB IOTA Committee.
